Day six - already!

Good morning everyone!  I'm feeling better today.

Gorgeous sunny Sunday here.

Weight this morning is 64.5kg (142lb).

Yesterday was a slow-starter;  didn't feel very well at all, as I wrote in my post.  However...I decided to drink some grapefruit juice, as I'd been told it's great for detoxing.  So I struggled down a greens-and-grapefruit mix, and within an hour I had no more need to worry about enemas!!

It all settled down very quickly, though, and after that I felt fine.

I also remembered to drink more water during the day, which was helpful, I think.

We had a nice walk downtown, and spent several hours in the San Francisco Library, gorging myself on books about vegan cooking and raw food.  I must confess I spent quite a lot of time thinking about food yesterday, although I didn't think about actually eating.

It's interesting to think that because I've set myself such a long period of juice feasting, that here I am at day six, and have barely noticed it.  Previously I've done 7 or 10 days, and by day six I'd be wondering if I was going to make it.  Mind you, as I've said before, this is the first time I've drunk enough juice - previously I'd been drinking probably only 2 quarts.  Clearly not enough to sustain anyone, unless they were just laying around in bed all day.

I'm very excited to have put World Vegetarian Day on my calendar, and the celebrations in San Francisco are going to be great.  It's going to be an incredible gathering of brilliant speakers, events and food.  I'm particularly excited about being able to hear Howard Lyman (the mad cowboy) and John Robbins (whose book, Diet for a New America set me on this path, years ago) - both on the same day!

It' always so energising to realise you're not alone in your journey, and also to be re-inspired, and to re-affirm that you're doing the right thing.

And speaking of that, this morning as I was drowsing in my bed, I heard the blender whirring.  Next thing I see is my husband clutching a quart jar, full of green smoothie!  This is a guy who will always be tempted by toast and coffee for breakfast, so this is a great breakthrough, and just goes to show you that leading by example is more effective than nagging or lecturing people.

So, my juices yesterday were:  1 quart VERRRY bitter grapefruit, celery, cucumber and collard juice

3 quarts much lighter green, one with melon, one with carrot and apple, one with pear.  Yum!

Plus about a quart of water with lemon juice squeezed into it, and a large green tea.

It's going to be a sunny day, so I think we're planning a visit to the SF Botanical Gardens, so I'll pack myself a juice into a thermos flask and be good to go!
