So, by November of 2007 I was now quite thin and elf-like (well, more elfy than I'd ever been in my life), but feeling bad, drinking lots of coffee, eating a fairly standard, broad-ranging, low-fat diet, plenty of meat, dairy, bread and pasta, although I was eating a LOT of vegetables. Mostly steamed, along with a lot of raw carrots, which I crunched on all day. The family was beginning to comment on the quantity, and to wonder if I might be going a bit mad. Certainly I look back and can clearly see that I needed to be eating all of the time, to stop myself from running for chocolate or cake. I knew something wasn't right.
In my search for answers, and during a work trip to the USA, I found myself in a bookstore and picked up Natalia Rose's book, Raw Food Life Force Energy. I have to say that at this stage I wasn't so much interested in health, as just the preservation of my remaining looks. And seeing Natalia's glamorous form sashaying through the Farmers' Market on the cover of the book, little flat belly peeping out, and her glowing skin, really sold it. Yes, folks it's true - you really CAN judge a book by its cover.
Her explanation of such a simple way of eating was like a cosmic 'a-ha!' for me. Back in the hotel I read the book in one night, and it changed everything. It started me on a year of learning, eating well, and changed the course of my life.
